Ode to Tatsfield
Oh tell me not of beauteous spots
In Spain or Southern France,
Nor yet of Mountains clad in snow
Which Mountaineers entrance;
Ive seen it all on Tatsfield's heights
Set on the Northern Downs;
No grander sight e'er can be seen
Yet close to London Town.
How many scurry far and wide
Long distances by train,
Thinking the further that they go
The greater be their gain;
Yet, here, at their very door
Clean doth the zephyrs blow,
Eight hundred feet above the sea
Health and vigour glow.
So tell me not of Palestine
Or India's coral strand,
Or any other scenic spot
In other people's land.
I love the hills, I love the dales,
The woodland and the dell,
There is no place like our dear land
Tatsfield I love thee well!
